When you think of James Bond, the first thing that comes to mind—besides the martinis and the Aston Martin—is the iconic 007 gun logo. It is perhaps the most recognizable piece of graphic design in cinematic history.
But here is the “top secret” intel: the man who created that logo, Joe Caroff, was a native of Linden, New Jersey, with deep roots in the Roselle community.

From Stimpson Avenue to Hollywood
Born in 1921, Joseph Caroff grew up in the heart of our service area. He lived on Stimpson Avenue in Linden and frequented the shops and streets of Roselle. In 1962, he was commissioned to create a simple letterhead for a film called Dr. No.
With a few bold strokes, he turned the “7” into the handle of a Walther PPK. He was paid just $300 for the design, but he created a legacy that has lasted over 60 years.
